Mexican Workers' Party

The Partido Mexicano de los Trabajadores (PMT ) was the left politically oriented Mexican Workers' Party, which was officially registered in 1984. The PMT joined in 1987 with the Partido Socialista Unificado de México ( PSUM ) together and went on with her in 1988 in the Partido Mexicano Socialista (PMS ).

The origins of the party went back to the student riots in 1968, and in particular the massacre of Tlatelolco. At that time, prominent intellectuals and socialists like the later PMT main character Heberto Castillo and Carlos Fuentes, Octavio Paz and Luis Villoro the Comité Nacional de Auscultación y Coordinación joined together, from the 1975 Labour Party PMT was born. After the official registration as a political party the mid- 1980s, the PMT took in 1985 to the government elections in part.
