Meyers Blitz-Lexikon

Meyers Blitz -Lexikon is a very compact single-volume reference work, which appeared in several editions between about 1928 and 1940. The name refers to the need for very rapid ( "Lightning " ) information. It was published to accompany the 15 - volume edition of the 7th edition of Meyers Lexikon ( 1924-1933 ).

Style

The issued by justified by Joseph Meyer Bibliographical Institute lexicon contains word definitions, each comprising mostly only 1-2 lines.

By limiting the word explanations to a few keywords and heavy use of abbreviations found on one side a large number of entries place. Even complex topics have been explained in the rule with just a few sentences. Thus it was possible, in spite of 8 cards, to 759 pages to create 2,481 illustrations in the text and 71 part multi-colored panels a lexicon with over 45,000 entries.
