Michael Bohnen
Franz Michael Bean ( born 2 May 1887 in Cologne, † 26 April 1965, Berlin) was a German opera singer and actor.
Life
Michael Bohnen formed at the Conservatory in Cologne and through private lessons for opera singer ( bass-baritone ) from, debuted in 1910 at the Stadttheater in Dusseldorf and in 1912 heard at the Court Theatre in Wiesbaden. Since 1912 he was a member of the Court Opera in Berlin and worked since 1914 with regularly at the Bayreuth Festival; from military service, he was called back in 1916 to the Berlin Court Opera. In 1925 he played the Baron Ochs von Lerchenau in the film version of the opera Der Rosenkavalier.
Beans occurred since 1922 at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, from 1933 to 1934 in Buenos Aires.
In Germany he gained great popularity as an actor. Legendary it was his muscle strength. His colleague Lil Dagover describes in her autobiography how he fought, among other things with a live bull or a boy with outstretched arms held out in August the Strong the window.
