Michael Bowen (bishop)

Michael George Bowen ( born April 23, 1930 in Gibraltar) is Archbishop Emeritus of Southwark.

Life

Michael George Bowen received on 29 June 1957, and was ordained priest incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Southwark. He was incardinated and the clergy of the diocese of Arundel and Brighton. Paul VI. appointed him Coadjutor Bishop on May 18, 1970 Arundel and Brighton and Titular Bishop of Lamsorti.

The Apostolic Delegate in the United Kingdom, Domenico Enrici, consecrated him on 27 June of the same year to the bishop; Co-consecrators were David John Cashman, Bishop of Arundel and Brighton, and Derek John Worlock, Bishop of Portsmouth.

After the death of David John Cashman's followed him as Bishop of Arundel and Brighton on 12 June 1994. The Pope appointed him on 28 March 1977 as Archbishop of Southwark. From his office he resigned on 6 November 2003.
