Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly ( born July 21, 1956 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American writer.

Life

During his school years at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, he discovered the novels of Raymond Chandler and decided to earn his living also by letter. Connelly graduated from the University of Florida journalism and creative writing. From 1980 he worked as a journalist for various newspapers in Florida, where he specialized primarily on crime reports. In 1986, he and two other reporters conducted a series of interviews with survivors of a plane crash in Fort Lauderdale, which brought him to the list of nominations for the Pulitzer Prize. This gave him a job as a police reporter for the prestigious Los Angeles Times. Connelly was therefore arrived at the home of Chandler's private eye Philip Marlowe.

Three years later, Connelly wrote the first novel by the police officers " Hieronymus Bosch", called " Harry ". The name of the hero was program. Harry Bosch is driven by a mission moralist who tries to bring his concept of order in a chaotic world that is similar to the pictures of the eponymous medieval painter. The first novel, The Black Echo (German Black Echo) appeared in 1992 and was awarded the following year with the Edgar Allan Poe Award for best first novel by the Mystery Writers of America.

Since then, Connelly has published numerous novels, most with Harry Bosch as a hero, as well as several short stories. He has won all the major international awards of the crime genre. Today Connelly is one of the most successful authors of the United States, is one of the leading representatives of the detective novel and from 2003 to 2004, President of the Authors' Guild Mystery Writers of America.

2000 Connelly produced under the title of Level 9, a TV series about computer crime. 2002 filmed Clint Eastwood Blood Work the novel of the same name, a thriller without Connelly's favorite hero Harry Bosch. 2010, his novel was made ​​into a film The Lincoln Lawyer by Brad Furman.
