Michael Hastings, Baron Hastings of Scarisbrick

Michael John Hastings, Baron Hastings of Scarisbrick CBE (born 29 January 1958) is Global Head of Corporate Citizenship at KPMG. As a life peer, he sits in the House of Lords.

From 1981 to 1985 he was a teacher and 1990-1994 television reporter and presenter. He was the first Head of Corporate Social Responsibility of the BBC and was previously head of public relations for the BBC. He is a department manager at British Telecom (BT) and trustee of the Vodafone Group Foundation. He is representative of KPMG International in the Global Corporate Citizenship Committee of the World Economic Forum and is chairman of the Global Reporting Initiative ( GRI) Committee. In 2009 he became a member of the World Economic Forum 's Global Council on Diversity and Talent; In 2010 he worked for the Global Agenda Council on the Next Generation, 2011 for the Global Agenda Council on the Role of Business and in 2012 he became Deputy Chairman of the World Economic Forum 's Global Agenda Council on the Role of Civil Society. From 2008 to 2011, he also launched the Global Diversity Strategy at KPMG International.

Lord Hastings is Chairman of Millennium Promise UK and a member of Millennium Promise Advisory Board. He is also a representative of KPMG in the international management committee of Business in the Community.

In 2010 he was the chief advisor to the Chatham House on the future role of the United Kingdom in Foreign Affairs. He sits on the committee of the Overseas Development Institute in the UK and the Centre for Global Development in the United States. In 2011 he became Vice President of UNICEF.

In January 2003, he was the CBE ( Commander of the British Empire ) was awarded in recognition of his many years of use for crime reduction, including because of his 15 - year tenure on the board of Crime Concern UK and 21 years as a trustee. He spent 9 years working for the Commission for Racial Equality. He is ranked among the 100 most influential blacks in the United Kingdom.

He was raised by the Queen for Life Peer in 2005. In the same year, he also was awarded the UNICEF award for his unermüdlichjen use for African children. Lord Hastings is President of ZANE, a development organization with a focus on Zimbabwe.

He is patron of the British organization of Child In Need India ( CINI UK).
