Michael Imperioli

James Michael Imperioli ( born March 26, 1966 in Mount Vernon, New York) is an American actor and screenwriter of Italian descent.

Life

Imperioli began his acting career in 1989 in the tough principal. His third film was Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas - Three decades in the Mafia - here he received a supporting role as Spider. Later in the 90s, he worked in a total of five films by director Spike Lee and some Hollywood productions. For Spike Lee's film Summer of Sam, he also wrote his first screenplay.

In 1999, he had his breakthrough as a Mafioso Christopher Moltisanti in the hit HBO television series The Sopranos. Imperioli won a supporting role and played between 1999 and 2007 in 83 of the 86 episodes with. For the role he won, among others, an Emmy Award and was nominated twice for a Golden Globe Award. For five episodes of the series he also wrote the screenplay. In 2005 he was part of the cast of the television series Law & Order.

Throughout his film and television career, he remained faithful to the theater in New York, both as an actor and as an author. In 2004, he opened with his wife Victoria own small theater in New York City - the "Studio Dante ". In 2008 and 2009 he played a leading role in the short-lived TV series Life on Mars, an American remake of the British series of the same name on ABC.

2010 to 2011 he played the lead role in the police drama Detroit 1-8-7.

In Goodfellas Joe Pesci shoots as Mafioso Thommy Michael Imperioli as non mafia member in the foot. In the Sopranos, there is an ironic allusion to this scene: This time the gangster Christopher shoots a civilian in the foot.

Imperioli is married to Victoria Chlebowski since 1995, lives in New York City in the Tribeca neighborhood and is the father of two children.
