Michael J. H. Walsh

Michael John Hatley Walsh ( born June 10, 1927 in Harrogate, Yorkshire ) was a British major general and 1982-1988 Chief Scout of the United Kingdom and Overseas Territories.

Walsh was at two independent schools: at the Clifton House School in Harrogate, Yorkshire and the Sedbergh School in Cumbria. He was a member of the local Scout Troops.

Walsh joined the King's Royal Rifle Corps in 1944. In the winter of 1946/47, he was employed in Italy to defend Trieste against Tito's partisans. In November 1956 he was commissioned during the Suez crisis, the El Gamil Airfield near Port Said to conquer as part of Operation Musketeer.

He was 1988-1995 Honorary President of the Society of Knights of the Round Table.
