Michael Jopling, Baron Jopling

Thomas Michael Jopling, Baron Jopling, PC ( born December 10, 1930) is a British politician and member of the House of Lords.

Jopling went to Cheltenham College and studied at Durham University. He was a farmer and entrepreneur, working for the National Farmers Union. He was a member of the Regional Assembly of Thirsk Rural District.

Jopling in 1964 for the Conservatives in the constituency of Westmorland elected to the House of Commons. From 1979 to 1983 he was Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury.

After a clean slate of the constituencies he was from 1983 MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale constituency and was from 1983 to 1987 Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

1997 Jopling was raised as Baron Jopling for Life Peer. He is a member of the Privy Council and the All Party Parliamentary Group America.
