Michael Kohnle

Michael Kohnle ( May 3, 1970 in Göppingen ) is a former German decathlete.

In 1987 he was German youth champion and finished at the European Junior Championships in 1987 to fourth place. The following year, Kohnle won before Robert Změlík the gold medal at the Junior World Championships and he was European Junior Champion 1989. He also presented a junior world record in the heptathlon in the hall and a European junior record in the decathlon this year. The German Sports Aid Foundation Kohnle recorded in 1989 as a junior athlete of the year.

1990 Kohnle won the German championship and reached at the European Championships in Split eleventh place. At the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo, he was twelfth and at the World Championships in Stuttgart in 1993 ninth. In 1994 he took part in the European Indoor Championships, finishing in ninth place. The following year, Kohnle was the all-around Götzis meeting with the personal best of 8302 points of third parties. At the World Championships in Gothenburg, but was disqualified in the 400 - meter race after he had transgressed the boundary lines, and did not finish the decathlon. Shortly after he won the German championship in Ulm for the second time. 1996 Kohnle was first German vice-champion, the winner Stefan Schmid was later disqualified.
