Michael Ludwig

Michael Ludwig ( born December 19, 1972 in Vienna) is an Austrian fencer.

Life

He fights in the Austrian Fencing Federation and trained in BSFZ Southtown under the leadership of Lajos Szlovenszky and Gerd Salbrechter. After the 2005/ 06 season Michael Ludwig stepped back from active Fencing. This season he erfocht at the World Cup in Copenhagen, the bronze medal and came in the top 32 at the Grand Prix of Paris ( where he lost to the Austrians Mortiz Hinterseer ). At the World Championships in Turin in 2006, he lost the battle for a place in the top 64 against Szabados after taking the lead. In the season 2006/ 07 he fought again at the World Cup in Venice, but failed again at the hurdle of the best 64 His greatest successes came at the European Championships. There he won a total of eight medals, including a gold medal in singles at the European Championships in 1992. During his three Olympic appearances was a fourth place in the team in Atlanta in 1996, the best finish.

In 1997 he received the Silver Medal for Services to the Republic of Austria.
