Michael Mifsud

Michael Mifsud, 2010

Michael Mifsud ( born April 17, 1981 in Pietà ) is a Maltese footballer. He is a scorer and captain of the Maltese national football team. He currently stands at Melbourne Heart in the Australian A -League contract.

Career

Mifsud began his career at the Sliema Wanderers. He was obliged from 1 FC Kaiserslautern for its 2nd team in 2001, but also came to stakes in the professional team. In total he played from 2001 to 2003 21 times in the 1st Bundesliga, scoring two goals. He was the first Maltese in the German top flight.

He joined in early 2004 for half a year back to Malta at the Sliema Wanderers, where he won the league and cup. From summer 2004 to January 2007, he plays for Lillestrøm SK in Norway and then moved to the English second division club Coventry City. During the winter break of the 2008/09 season he was loaned to Barnsley FC.

From July 2009, he was first vertragslos before he moved to FC Valletta in March 2010. 2013 he left Malta again and joined the Australian professional club Melbourne Heart.

National

For the Maltese national team, he previously played 91 games and scored 36 goals. He scored in a friendly match on 26 March 2008 against the selection of Liechtenstein five goals, including a hat-trick in 21 minutes. Malta won the game 7:1.
