Michael Möllinger

Michael Möllinger ( born October 25, 1980 in Titisee -Neustadt, Germany ) is a former German ski jumper who started since 2003 for the Swiss Ski Association and has Swiss citizenship. He celebrated his biggest success by winning the Swiss Championship in 2004 and 2005. Since the season 2002 /03 he took part in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup, was his 26th place overall in 2004/ 05 his best finish in this competition, at the Four Hills Tournament, he reached the 20th place in the same period also his best finish.

Career

Möllinger began ski jumping at the age of five years for SC Hinterzarten. From the season 1999/ 00 he started, now sports a soldier in the German army, for the first time in the Continental Cup. From the following season there were also sporadic inserts in the World Cup. In 2003, Möllinger fell out with the then ski jumping national coach Wolfgang Steiert, who had previously removed him for alleged discipline problems from the squad. Möllinger led this and the subsequent suspension by the DSV but returned to his criticism of the diet plans of the coaching staff. So he had publicly practiced with Frank Löffler criticism of the methods hunger in ski jumping, especially to Wolfgang Steiert. After his suspension Möllinger contacted the Swiss Ski Federation, which immediately showed interest in recording Möllingers in his ski jumping squad. Since Möllinger has a Swiss mother, also his naturalization proved to be no great obstacle, so that he could go for the Swiss team at the start from the 2004/05 season and now trained at SC Einsiedeln. In the years 2004 and 2005 he won the Swiss Cup ski jumping on the normal hill. Möllinger participated with the Swiss team at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. In the individual competitions he reached the 13th place on both the normal and on the large hill. In the team competition on the large hill, he reached the 7th place with Simon Ammann, Guido Landertshammer and Andreas Küttel. After a sideband plan in December 2007, his knee was too damaged to continue to be active in competitive sports. Therefore Möllinger announced his resignation on 21 October 2008.
