Michael Ontkean

Michael Ontkean ( born January 24, 1946 in Vancouver, British Columbia as Michael Leonard Ontkean ) is a Canadian actor. He was best known for his role of sheriff in Twin Peaks.

Life and achievements

Ontkean played as a child in television series, Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans. He graduated from St. Michael's College School in Toronto and in 1970 the University of New Hampshire.

Ontkean starred in several television series, including in the years 1972-1976 in the series The Rookies. In the horror film horror Attack ( 1972) Ontkean appeared alongside Orson Welles, in the comedy Slap Shot (1977 ) opposite Paul Newman. In the film drama Voices of Love ( 1979) he took alongside Amy Irving one of the main roles, just as in drama Making Love (1982 ), which starred with Kate Jackson Ontkean. In the French drama film The Blood of Others (1984 ) he played a starring role alongside Jodie Foster and Sam Neill.

Ontkean played in the film drama Clara's Secret (1988 ) with Whoopi Goldberg as Bill Hart, the father of David Hart, Neil Patrick Harris played. For his starring role in the film drama Bye Bye Blues (1989 ) he was nominated in 1990 for a Genie Award. In the series Twin Peaks, he played in the years 1990 to 1991, the role of sheriff Harry S. Truman, for which he was nominated in 1991 for the Soap Opera Digest Award. This was followed by some key roles, including in the thriller In the network of lies ( 1992) and the award-winning drama film Jay and the band of monkeys (1998).

Ontkean married twice, most recently the actress Jamie Smith -Jackson, with whom he has two children.
