Michael Spears

Michael Spears ( born December 28, 1977 in South Dakota, United States) is an American actor and singer.

Youth and private life

Michael Spears grew up as the son of Mary Godfrey and Patrick Spears on the Lower Brule Reservation on. He belongs to the people of the Lakota Oyate on Sicangu ( Brulé Lakota ). He has five brothers and a sister, his younger brother Eddie Spears is also an actor. In his youth, Spears was in a band called "Bad Nations". Today, he writes his own songs, mostly in Lakota, with whom he, accompanied by drum music to Indian " pow-wows " occurs. Spears is living with his girlfriend, who is of Italian and North -American indigenous descent, and has two sons with her. From a previous relationship he has a daughter, Jasmine, and a son, Noah. Career

His first film role was played Michael Spears at the age of about 12 years in Kevin Costner's award-winning Western The Dances With Wolves in which he played the Lakota boys Otter. It was followed by several supporting roles like in The Broken Chain on the side of Pierce Brosnan, Lakota Woman or in Chris Eyre's Skins.

A larger, international notoriety gained Spears in 2005 by his portrayal of the Dog Star in the produced by Steven Spielberg mini-series Into the West - Into the West, for which he, along with other cast members, was awarded the " Western Heritage Award". In 2007 he received next to Tonantzin Carmelo his first starring role in the thriller imprint, in which he played the police officer Tom Grey Horse.

Spears is currently working with his brother Eddie in the Western Timber Wolf, to be published in the U.S. in 2011.
