Michael Tönnies

Michael Tönnies ( born December 19, 1959 in Essen) is a former German football player.

Career

Tönnies began his career with eleven years in SpVg food Schonnebeck 1910 and played in 1974 in the youth of the FC Schalke 04 He played seven league games for FC Schalke 04 (1978 to 1980) and 33 for MSV Duisburg ( 1991/92 ), in which he scored 13 goals. In the 2nd Bundesliga he played for SpVgg Bayreuth (1981 /82), Rot-Weiss Essen (1986 /87), the MSV Duisburg (1989 to 1991) and the Wuppertal SV (1992 to 1994) 140 games and scored 62 goals.

Michael Tönnies was top scorer in the second division season 1990 /91 ( 29 goals for MSV Duisburg ) and three times in the Oberliga Nordrhein: 1983 /84 ( 30 goals for the first FC Bocholt ), 1985 /86 ( 24 goals for RW Essen ) and 1988/89 ( 27 goals for MSV Duisburg).

The MSV Duisburg 1987 he was German amateur champion and 1988 and 1989 champion of the Oberliga Nordrhein. The Zebras he led in 1989 to the rise to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1991 and even followed the return to the 1st Bundesliga.

His record of 27 August 1991, still unmatched, as in the jersey of MSV Duisburg 6-2 against Karlsruher SC ( with the then largely unknown Oliver Kahn in goal ) within five minutes ( 10th, 11th, he, 15 ) scored the fastest hat-trick in Bundesliga history. He also submitted nor the 5:1 and 6:2 after the shot and thus five goals in a game only Dieter Müller scored more Premier League goals in a game.

After his playing days he was also coach at the Essen amateur football. He is currently the Sports Director at the regional division SpVg food Schonnebeck 1910 in Essen- Schonnebeck ( he was there also an assistant coach ), his first club in youth.

National

Ten days after his 18th birthday, he came for the DFB youth national team on December 29, 1977 at a tournament in Israel for his first of three international matches in which he scored five goals. In the first half when 8-0 against Denmark, he scored a hat-trick: 1-0 ( 19 minutes ), 2-0 ( 28 ) 3-0 ( 29 ); in the second half he still scored the 4-0 ( 44 ) and the 6:0 ( 63 ).

Personal

After his career end Tönnies first opened in 1994 a restaurant in Essen-Kray and was a heavy smoker. A year later he was in the glass and building cleaning company his father's high financial losses employee. 2005 with him in the final stages of emphysema was found, so that he had to rely on a donation. In April 2013 could be carried out in the Medical School of Hannover successful lung transplantation. Michael Tönnies lives as a pensioner in Essen.
