Michael Wayne

Michael Wayne (born Michael Anthony Morrison, born November 23, 1934 in Los Angeles, † April 2, 2003 in Burbank, California ) was an American film producer and actor.

Michael Wayne was born as the eldest of four children of John Wayne and his first wife, Josephine Alicia Saenz. He received the 1956 business degree from Loyola Marymount University and then served in the Reserve of the U.S. Air Force. Two years later he married Gretchen Diebel, with whom he had five children. The marriage ended by his death.

His film career began in 1952 as a production assistant on John Ford's comedy The winner, in which he also took over a background performer. His father embodied therein a boxer who returns to his native Ireland. 1960, he joined the production company Batjac Productions and was involved among other things, the production of the Alamo. In the following years he produced more films with his father in the title role, among other MacLintock (1963 ), The Green Berets (1968), Chisum (1970) and Big Jake (1971).

After John Wayne's cancer death in 1979, he founded the John Wayne Cancer Institute and became its Chairman of the Board at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica.

Michael Wayne died on 2 April 2003 at the age of 68 of a heart attack as a result of a complication of lupus erythematosus. His grave is located in the Hollywood Hills Cemetery in Los Angeles.
