Michael Whitaker
Michael Whitaker ( born April 17, 1960) is a British show jumper.
Michael Whitaker lives in Nottingham, where it operates a competition yard.
Career
Whitaker began with seven years on ponies to ride, rode with 16 the first time international exams and at 20 he became the youngest winner of the famous Hickstead Derby.
In September 1993, he took over from his brother John Whitaker lead the world rankings.
Whitaker is known for his unerring sense of difficult horses and for its economic style of riding. In addition, he is probably the rider who is one of the record - participants at the European Championships and World Cup competitions.
In February 2012, he was ranked 24 of the show jumping world rankings.

Whitaker has with ex-wife Veronique three children ( Jack, Molly and Katie Jane ), but now lives with his new wife Melissa. Until the summer of 2010 he lived and trained his nephew William Whitaker with him after a disagreement moved to the Shaw Stud Farms near Telford.

2009 Whitaker has been banned due to a positive doping test of his horse Tackeray four months. In the sample, which was taken in May at the tournament in La Baule, the substance altrenogest was detected, which is classified as doping in stallions and geldings. Whitaker then applied to the opening of the B sample, which turned out also positive. Whitaker himself justified this by saying that probably the food bucket of Tackeray was confused with his mare Wonami van den Aart, whereby the substance found in the body of Tackeray arrived ( in mares is altrenogest, which leads to suppression of the horses, only classified as medication, for the tournament in La Baule was a permission of the tournament veterinarian for use of this drug before ). Accordance with a provision of the British Olympic Association, he would have been so disabled for all subsequent Olympic Games. Against this he laid a contradiction, this application was successful due to " significant mitigating circumstances ". Thus Whitaker would have been entitled to start for the 2012 Olympics in London, ultimately he was there the reserve rider and did not come to start.
