Michel Rasquin
Michel Rasquin ( born September 19, 1899 in Petingen, † April 27, 1958 ) was a Luxembourgian journalist and politician of the LSAP.
After Rasquin worked as editor of the Tageblatt Escher many years, he began after the Second World War, his career as a politician. After a short time he had risen from the secretary of the local section Escher Esch party for President of the Letzebuerger Aarbechterpartei.
From December 1945 to July 1948 Rasquin was a member of the State Council. On June 6, 1948 Michel Rasquin was first elected to the Chambre. Shortly after, he was elected Mayor of Esch- Alzette, which office he carried out from April 1949 to 1951. On July 3, 1951 Rasquin was Minister of Economic Affairs of Luxembourg in the government Dupong - Schaus - Bodson. In January 1958 he resigned as Minister of Economics and was appointed the first Luxembourg member of the European Commission.
