Míchel Salgado

Míchel Salgado ( born October 22, 1975 in As Neves, Pontevedra Province; civil Miguel Ángel Salgado Fernández ) is a former Spanish footballer.

Career

Clubs

The right-back began his career in 1994 at Celta Vigo. He was loaned for one season to the Spanish second division side UD Salamanca before he played another two years at Celta and there became one of the most famous players in 1996. In 1999, Salgado finally moved to Real Madrid. The " Royal " he won the Spanish Championship four times and twice the Champions League. 2009 was dissolved by mutual agreement, the contract with Real Madrid. On 19 August 2009 he was engaged by the Blackburn Rovers.

National

His debut in the Spanish national football team he was on 5 September 1998 at a 2:3 defeat against Cyprus. He denied to 2006 a total of 53 international caps and was part of the Spanish squad for the Euro 2000 finals in the Netherlands and Belgium as well as in the 2006 World Cup in Germany - the two intervening tournaments he missed due to injury.
