Michelle Rogers (judoka)

Michelle Rogers ( born January 21, 1976 in Salford ) is a British judoka.

Rogers began at the age of nine with the judo. At age 16, she finally reached the black belt. In 1994 she won the title at the European Junior Championships. In 1996, she started for the first time at the Judo European Championships and won in the 72 kg class at first the bronze medal. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, it reached ninth place in the heavyweight class. A year later, at the Judo European Championships 1997 in Ostend, she won the silver medal. In the same year she came at the World Judo Championships in 1997 to fifth place. 2001 Rogers again won the bronze medal at the European Championships. For shortly afterwards held Judo 2001 World Championships she reached seventh place. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in her native Manchester, she won the gold medal in its class. In the Judo European Championships in Belgrade 2007 she again won the bronze medal. Also in the Super Cup in Moscow she managed this success. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing she competed in the light heavyweight class ( to 78 kg) and reached at the end as early as 1996 the ninth.
