Orleans Parish
Michoud is a place east of New Orleans, Louisiana.
In the 19th century Michoud was a small rural village in Orleans Parish outside the city limits of Gentilly Road. Before the Civil War there was a sugar plantation and a sugar factory; the old brick chimneys still exist as a kind of landmark near Gentilly Road. After the construction of the "Gulf Intracoastal Waterway " began economic growth. This effect was reinforced with the construction of military aircraft during World War II. Today Michoud is known for the Michoud Assembly Facility NASA.
