Mick Garris

Mick Garris ( born December 4, 1951 in Santa Monica, California) is an American screenwriter, film producer and film director.

Life and work

Mick Garris is especially known for the production and presentation of films by the literary works of Stephen King. The collaboration began in 1992 with the film adaptation of Stephen King's Sleepwalkers.

He made a name as a director at the beginning of his career with the staging of making-of for such films as The Beast. For the television series Amazing Stories, which was produced by Steven Spielberg, he wrote several screenplays.

In 2005, he created as a producer, the television series Masters of Horror, will be staged in the individual episodes of famous horror movie directors such as John Carpenter. For this he also wrote several screenplays.

He is married to actress Cynthia Garris since 1982.

Awards (selection)

In 1986, he won an award for his directing an episode of the television series Amazing Stories at the Edgar Allan Poe Awards.
