Although the path to the ridge looks questionable, it can still be easily reached and crossed by Scafell Pike from. However, access to the summit of Sca Fell from the infamous "Broad subject" called rock wall is obstructed. This rock wall that looks at first glance little dangerous, is actually difficult to beat and assessed as particularly dangerous at a descent attempt. On the English scale of difficulty it is classified as "D " ( = difficult ). The wanderer who seeks a safe route between the summit of Scafell Pike and Sca Fell to the path via the Mickledore is therefore not recommended. A safe route, which requires, however, a descent down to well below the height of the Mickledore via the Foxes Tarn. A bigger challenge the Lord 's Rake route and the route via the West Wall Traverse dar. Lord 's Rake is also called since a rock fall 2001 in the saddle jammed large and unstable boulders and loose gravel as dangerous and it is to take special care when climbing on this route advised.
