Micronesian languages
The Micronesian languages with about 220,000 speakers of Malayo -Polynesian among the languages , by far the most important and richest speaker subgroup of the Austronesian languages.
Classification of Micronesian languages
The group of Micronesian languages comprises 20 individual languages. A sub-group, which is referred to as Kernmikronesisch includes 19 languages , including but not limited Kiribati, formerly often called Gilbertese, and Chuukesisch. The Nauruan language forms a separate subgroup.
Distribution area of the Micronesian languages
The Micronesian languages are spoken on the islands scattered around between the Philippines and Polynesia north of Melanesia:

- State of Kosrae: Kosraeanisch
- State of Pohnpei: Pohnpeanisch, Pingelapisch
- State of Yap: Satawal, Ulithisch, Woleaianisch
