Micronesian languages

The Micronesian languages ​​with about 220,000 speakers of Malayo -Polynesian among the languages ​​, by far the most important and richest speaker subgroup of the Austronesian languages.

Classification of Micronesian languages

The group of Micronesian languages ​​comprises 20 individual languages. A sub-group, which is referred to as Kernmikronesisch includes 19 languages ​​, including but not limited Kiribati, formerly often called Gilbertese, and Chuukesisch. The Nauruan language forms a separate subgroup.
