Midline nuclear group

The nuclei of the median set next to the intralaminar nuclei of the second large group of brain nuclei of the nonspecific thalamus ( Truncothalamus ) out its tasks are largely unknown. However, there are close links to both the olfactory and the limbic system.

The core group is periventrikular below the third ventricle and extends from the interventricular foramen to the commissure epithalamic. The nuclei of the median receive their afferents from the olfactory bulb, amygdala and hippocampus. Efferents project to the entire archives and paleocortex.

An individual cores parataenialis nucleus, nucleus paramedianus, commissuralis Nucleus and Nucleus endymalis ( reuniens ) are identified.
