Midnite

Midnite is a roots reggae band from Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, which was founded in 1989 by brothers Ron and Vaughn Benjamin.

The band's music draws heavily on the roots-reggae of the 1970s. Also, you hold the band in their texts on topics of the Rastafari movement, dealing with issues of current politics and economy to the religion of Rastafari.

Band History

The band's debut album Unpolished 1997 in Washington DC recorded. Also in Washington, the most famous album of the band Ras Mek Peace 1999 was taken under the simplest conditions, with only two microphones and was mixed without technical measures. Despite these simple ratios, the album on a very good sound quality. In the late 1990s, the band returned to St. Crox back to work in his own studio African Roots Lab. This was followed in the next few years some of their own publications and publications with other artists, both international and local of the Virgin Islands. The result of this work can be found in 2002 on the album Jubilees of Zion. Among other things, it deals with the cultural resistance to Babylon, Babylon in the Rastafari movement is understood as a synonym for a materialistic and bad company or specifically the Western world were in the abducted Africans. The fourth album by the band Seek Knowledge Before Vengeance was also published in 2002 on the label the band. More releases followed and followed until today. In addition, Midnite is a popular live band and can still be found frequently in the great reggae festival program.

In September 2011, the band released their first professionally produced music video for the song Mongst I & I. It shows the band members in different combinations and at different places such Frederiksted, U.S. Virgin Islands or Kingston.
