Midob people

The Midob are an ethnic group that lives in the area of the city Malha in the Sudanese province of North Darfur. They speak Midob and its population is estimated at about 50,000.

Midob are traditionally semi-nomadic sheep and goat herders, whose settlement area northeast of the Berti is located. Due to prolonged droughts many Midob are drawn from the 1980s to the south and to the cities. When searching for job opportunities and business contacts they were less successful than the neighboring Zaghawa, who emigrated at the same time.
