Międzybrodzie Bialskie

Międzybrodzie Bialskie [ mjɛnd͡zɨbrɔd͡ʑɛ bjalskjɛ ] is a village in the Polish province of Silesia in powiat Żywiecki. The village is part of the municipality ( gmina ) Czernichów.

Geographical Location

The village is located in southern Poland. 30 kilometers south of Międzybrodzie Bialskie is the border with Slovakia, 30 kilometers southwest of the border with the Czech Republic. The village is situated on the banks of the reservoir Międzybrodzier Jezioro Międzybrodzkie, a popular tourist destination. 1975-1998, the village belonged to the Bielsko- Biała Voivodeship.

History

In Międzybrodzie Bialskie a rest home called Solahütte was (probably named after the river Soła ). The Solahütte was used during the time of National Socialism by members of the SS. This holiday home was built by a prisoner command of the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1942 under the direction of Franz Hossler.
