Miejska Górka

Miejska Górka ( German Görchen ) is a city and seat of a municipality in Poland, located in the powiat Rawicki the Wielkopolska Region.

History

The first mention of today's Miejska Górka dates back to the 13th century. 1428 was the place city right under Magdeburg law. At the Second Partition of Poland was Miejska Górka 1793 part of Prussia. 1807 to 1815 the city was then part of the Duchy of Warsaw and then fall again to Prussia. After the First World War the city became part of the revived Poland. Until then, the city lay in a circle Rawitsch the province of Posen. During the Polish campaign the German Wehrmacht, the city was occupied in September 1939. The occupation and membership of the Reichsgau Warta Country, County Rawitsch lasted until the arrival of the Red Army in 1945. Subsequently Miejska Górka part of the People's Republic of Poland.

Attractions

  • The Church of Saint Nicholas and Mary Magdalene was built in 1450 or 1455. After the destruction by the Swedes in 1655, the church received a new altar. 1787 a fire destroyed the church and they had to be rebuilt.
  • The monastery was built in the years 1739-1742.
