Miel is a village in the municipality Swisttal in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein- Sieg district, and is located in the Voreifel. Until 1969 Miel was a separate municipality.

History

About a kilometer northeast of the local situation of Miel was since the Roman period a settlement with the crossing of the Swist named Lützermiel. Building of this settlement were available until well into the 19th century. Today there is the entrance to a recycling plant. The baroque Schloss Miel remodeled by Electoral Cologne Minister of State Caspar Anton von Belderbusch from the old knight's seat to a moated castle is now used as a residence of a golf club.

The formerly established as a primary school 1831-1834 and subsequently used as a rectory building in the center is from 31 May 1991 under monument protection.
