Mielno, SÅ‚upsk County

Mielno ( German Mellin ) is a village in the municipality Dębnica Kaszubska in powiat Słupski ( Stolp ) of the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Geographical location

Mielno located in Pomerania, some 20 kilometers south-southeast of the city of Slupsk ( Stolp ) and nine kilometers south-southwest of the church village Dębnica Kaszubska ( Rathsdamnitz ) at the edge of a forest area.

History

Mielno has been applied in the form of a small village streets. Previously was the place of a royal share and a noble part. The royal share was under the Office of Stolp, the noble the Good Krampe. To the royal share included the Melliner watermill. In 1925, 68 were in Mellin residential buildings. In 1939, 97 households and 381 inhabitants were counted. In 1939, Mellin had 70 farms.

Before 1945, Mellin belonged to the district of Stolp in Pomerania Region of Pomerania. The municipal area was 1,002 acres in size. In the community Mellin there were a total of four Locations:

  • Mellin
  • Mill Mellin
  • Waldarbeitergehöft Mellin

Mellin was occupied towards the end of World War II on the night of March 7, 1945 by the Red Army. The restaurant Mertens, the house and the barn Marschke Thiede went up in flames. The villagers had previously issued on the day of the trek on the run, but the trek was overrun by Soviet troops, and they had to return. In the fall of 1945, Poland took over the village. Mellin was renamed Mielno. The German villagers have been displaced.

154 and sold in the GDR 134 Mellin villagers were later identified in the Federal Republic of Germany.

In the village now live about 180 inhabitants.

School

Before 1945, the village had a two-stage elementary school. In 1932 there taught a teacher in two classes 76 school children.

Church

The villagers present before 1945 were Protestant. 1925 there was a villager Catholic religion. Mellin belonged to the parish Rathsdamnitz and thus to the church Stolp City.
