Mierczany

Mierczany ( German Hildesheim ) is a Polish village in the municipality Torzym ( Sternberg ), Lubusz Voivodship, near Rzepin ( Reppen ). It belongs to the powiat Sulęciński, and has about 93 inhabitants.

Geography

It is situated in the northwest of the Lubusz Voivodeship in the extensive forests of Reppener Heide ( Puszcza Rzepinska ). Mierczany is located on the country road 139, which leads from Górzyca about Rzepin after Debrznica. In Rzepin the road crosses the motorway Berlin -Poznań, which the town is well connected to the European road network. The railway line Wroclaw - Szczecin is located about 1.3 km from the village. The nearest train station Gądków Wielki (Great Gandern ) is 4 kilometers away. Frankfurt ( Oder) is 30 kilometers away.

History

The village Mierczany developed around the farm Hildesheim ( Hildesheim Good in the Neumark ), which certified in 1775 for 7250 dollars and 1796 dollars for 17,000 changed hands. The official place name was until the year 1945 " Hildesheim b. Reppen ", which at that time in the Brandenburg district Weststernberg (formerly county Sternberg (Brandenburg) ) was. The village of Hildesheim and the district town Reppen were in the eastern part of the Mark Brandenburg Neumark. (DDR: VEG state owned Good) In times of Polish People's Republic, a state-owned agricultural operation " PGR " was established in Mierczany. In the years 1975-1998 the town was part of the Zielona Góra Voivodeship (Green Mountain ).
