Miguel Morayta

Miguel Morayta Martínez ( born August 15, 1907 in Villahermosa, Ciudad Real, Spain, † June 19, 2013 in Mexico City, Mexico) was a Spanish film director and screenwriter of Mexican films. He directed 74 films 1944-1978 Director.

Life

Morayta was born the son of a doctor. He first proposed a military career a in the artillery of the Republican army in Spain. After the Spanish Civil War, he went to France, but was interned there after the occupation by the Germans. In 1941 he succeeded to escape to Latin America and he settled in Mexico.

He had 1944 Caminito alegre, where the actor Luis G. Barreiro and Carmen Montejo participated His film debut. Among his most important films include Camino del infierno (1951 ) with Pedro Armendáriz, El Martir del Calvario (1952 ) with Enrique Rambal in the role of Jesus and Manuel Fábregas as Judas, the musical comedy ¡ Ay, pena, penita, pena! (1953 ) with Luis Aguilar and Lola Flores, and Joselito vagabundo (1966 ) with Sara García and Joselito (José Jiménez Fernández ). After his last movie in 1978 Morayta worked for some years for the Mexican television. He was honored by the Sociedad Mexicana de Directores, Realizadores de Cine, Radio, Televisión y Videogramas for his fifty years of work in film in 1993.
