Mihály Dresch

Mihály Dresch (* July 10, 1955 in Budapest) is a Hungarian jazz saxophonist.

Life

Threshing began playing at the age of twelve years saxophone. He studied engineering before he became a professional musician. He has performed with musicians such as Imre Lakatos Géza Kőszegi and on, was a member of the Quartet of Károly Binder and is a longstanding partner of pianist György Szabados.

In 1984 he founded his own quartet, which exists since a rotating cast. Among other things, he owned István Baló, Róbert Benkő, Félix Lajkó, Ferenc Kovács, Miklós Lukács and Mátyás Szandai. The quartet has collaborated with musicians such as John Tchicai, Archie Shepp, Roscoe Mitchell, Chico Freeman, David Murray, and Dewey Redman.

Threshing took fifteen albums as a bandleader. The album Straight Music Award from the magazine Gramofon 2004 Album of the Year, threshing was in the following year Hungarian Jazz Musician of the Year.
