Mike Arcuri

Michael Angelo "Mike" Arcuri ( born June 11, 1959 in Utica, New York ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. He was from 2007 to 2011 a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the state of New York.

Biography

Arcuri was born the son of Carmen and Elizabeth Arcuri in Utica. His high school degree he earned in 1977 at the Thomas R. Proctor High School in his native city. In 1981 he graduated from the University at Albany and in 1984 at New York Law School. Arcuri then acquired the permit to work as a lawyer can. In 1986 he opened his own law firm in his hometown, where he still lives today.

Arcuri was elected with 53.9 % of the vote in the U.S. House of Representatives for the 24th Congressional District in New York in 2007. He followed the Republican Sherwood Boehlert. His seat he defended in the 2008 elections with 52 % of the vote against Republican Richard L. Hanna. Hanna could remove him at the 2010 elections his seat in January 2011 and represents the 24th District. Arcuri received 46.7 % of votes. He was most recently a member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Committee on Rules.

Mike Arcuri is Roman Catholic faith, married to Sabrina Dean Arcuri and father of two children.
