Mike Gratton

Mike Gratton ( born November 28, 1954) is a former British marathon runners.

At school and at college, where he was trained as a physical education teacher, he was a successful track runner until he was run over by a forklift in 1977.

After his recovery, he joined the road race. In 1979, he scored on his marathon debut a time of 2:21:22 h and then won the Polytechnic Marathon in 2:19:53. In 1982, he was third at the London Marathon in 2:12:30 and won, starting for England, bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in 2:12:06.

He had his greatest success in the following year, when he won the London Marathon in 2:09:43, a time which he occupies 13th place in the all-time best list of the United Kingdom (November 2009). In a marathon, the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki, he did not reach the goal.

He then founded the company 2:09 Events which specializes in sports travel and the organization of running events.

Mike Gratton started for the Invicta East Kent Athletics Club.
