Mike Lafferty (alpine skier)

Michael McCormack "Mike" Lafferty ( born May 20, 1948 in Eugene, Oregon ) is a former American alpine skier. Lafferty was in the early 1970s for a short time one of the best downhill skier in his country.

His breakthrough to the world class started in 1969 by winning the U.S. championship in downhill skiing. Between December 1969 and January 1973, he was also placed in the top ten eleven times in World Cup race. His best result it reached in February 1972 at the departure of Crystal Mountain, where he finished second behind the Swiss Bernhard Russi. In the overall standings of the world cup Lafferty came in the 1971/72 season to ninth. In the downhill standings, he finished third in this season.

Lafferty participated in the Olympic Winter Games in 1972 partly in Sapporo and finished 14th in the downhill.
