In addition to the archaeologists also anthropologists, a geomorphologist and a botanist were involved in the investigation. Madagascar is one of the last landmasses settled by humans. The team identified some of the oldest grave stones in Androy and put them in the landscape, social and genealogical context. Thus, the history of the first settlement and the rise and fall of the stone settlements was examined. The research also extended to the extinction of the megafauna, such as the elephant bird. Finally, it was possible to prove the authenticity of the report of Robert Drury, who had reported in his book Robert Drury 's Journal about his stay 1703-1709 on the island.
