Mike Storey

Mike Storey, Baron Storey, of Childwall in the City of Liverpool, CBE ( born May 25, 1949) is a British Liberal Democrat politician. He was from 2004 to 2011 City Council in Liverpool Wavertree district and chairman of the Liverpool City Council from 1998 to 2005

He was first elected in 1973 in the City Council.

President of the Municipal

1998 reached the Liberaldemolraten the majority in the Liverpool City Council and Storey became chairman. Among its aims are to restore the reputation of the city belonged. He lowered local taxes, improved services, trying to create jobs and attract investors and reduced the number of municipal employees to 5,000.

He was instrumental in the successful application Liverpool's European Capital of Culture in 2008.

He joined on 25 November 2005 back from his post after it was revealed that he had violated the code of conduct.

He lost his seat in 2011 to the 18-year- old Jake Morrison.

Mayor

From 2009 to 2010 was mayor of Storey Liverpool.Sein predecessor was Steve Rotherham, his successor Hazel Williams.

Awards

Storey was the 1992, the Order of the British Empire awarded for his political activities and in Jehr 2002, the Commander of the British Empire. He is also a teacher and currently the principal of a school in Halewood.

On 19 November 2010 it was announced that he would be elevated to a Life Peer and recruiting for the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords.
