Mikhail Shchepkin

Mikhail Semenovich Shchepkin (Russian: Михаил Семёнович Щепкин; scientific transliteration Mikhail Semenovic Ščepkin; * 6 Novemberjul / November 17 1788greg in Krasnoje, Kursk, .. .. † 11 Augustjul / August 23 1863greg in Yalta ) was a famous Russian actor and is considered one of the founders of Russian theater school. He was born the son of a serf. Shchepkin played was the first to Famussow in Griboedov Comedy mind creates suffering or: Woe to the mind (Gore ot uma, 1831). The renowned Shchepkin Theatre School in Moscow is now named after him and became the 200th anniversary celebrated with the release of a postage stamp on 25 November 2009 by the Russian Post. This stamp shows a view of the school building.
