Mikhail Sorokin (orienteering)

Mikhail Valeryevich Sorokin (Russian: Михаил Валерьевич Сорокин; born August 1, 1981 in Ufa ) is a Russian- Kazakh ski orienteers.

Sorokin won the 2001 Russia Long Distance bronze at the Junior World Championships. In 2009 he took part in Japan at the World Cup of assets. At this time he was a Russian champion in sprint and long distance. He finished 12th in the World Cup long distance races. At the World Championships in 2011, he started for Kazakhstan. In the sprint and long distance he was eighth, just as with the relay. In the mixed team competition, he finished sixth with Olga Novikova. In the Asian Winter Games in Kazakhstan 2011, he won by a wide margin all three individual decisions as well as in the relay with Alexandr Babenko and Aslan Tokbajew. At the first Asian Championships 2012, he also won all three individual decisions and also won the mixed team competition with Olga Novikova.
