Mikkel Følsgaard

Mikkel Boe Følsgaard (born 1 May 1984) is a Danish actor.

Biography

Mikkel Boe Følsgaard originally came from Gilleleje, in the north of Zealand. He was brought up by his grandfather to the acting, who took him as a child to a casting at the Danish television. Then appeared Følsgaard in a 1997 episode of the TV series Bryggeren. At school he was a member of the theater group and acted in Shakespeare plays. He graduated in 2003 from the Gribskov Gymnasium in Helsinge, where he had been the subject of mathematics occupied.

From 2008 Følsgaard began studying acting at the State Higher School of Theatre ( Statens Teaterskole ) in Copenhagen, which he will complete in summer 2012. During his training, he appeared in 2010 in plays at the Schauspielhaus of Nørrebro ( Mænd the hader kvinder ) and at Grønnegårds Theater ( Melampe ). He was also in 2011 for a series of the Danish-German crime series Northern Lights - occupied murderer without remorse and worked as a voice actor and announcer for radio plays.

The international success as an actor turned already with Følsgaards film debut. In 2012 he played the role of the Danish King Christian VII insane in Nikolaj Arcels historical drama The Queen and the physician that deals with the relationship between Johann Friedrich Struensee (played by Mads Mikkelsen ) and Queen Caroline Mathilde ( Alicia Vikander ). The theatrical production was premiered in the same year in the competition of the 62nd Berlin Film Festival, where Følsgaard was awarded the Silver Bear for best actor of the film festival. Here, the jury had given to the British director Mike Leigh 27- year-olds in preference to such well-known actors such as the Americans Robert Duvall ( Jayne Mansfield 's Car ). Følsgaard is the first Danish actor who could triumph in Berlin.

Currently, Mikkel Boe Følsgaard preparing for a production of Romeo and Juliet in Copenhagen, where he will be seen as Mercutio.
