Mikoyan LMFS

The RSK MiG- LMFS (Russian РСК МиГ - ЛМФС, Ljogki Mnogofunkzionalny Frontowoi Samoljot, German " Light multi -purpose front plane ") is a fighter aircraft under development based on the MiG 1:44. After the failure of "Project R -33 " is the MiG- LMFS the second more extensive test of the Mikoyan -Gurevich ( MiG meantime RAC ) to develop a successor model einstrahliges the still widespread pattern MiG -21 and MiG -23.

Development

After the failure of the MiG RAC MiG 1:44 sought ways to use the collected technological experiences elsewhere. Since the Russian Air Force had selected the Sukhoi competitors for the " PAK FA " program, which is developed from currently the air superiority fighter, T-50, it was decided to design a light multi-role combat aircraft. The MiG LMFS, which also bears the name "Project 1:27 ", is in the broadest sense, a single-beam variant of the MiG 1:44. So are again the Saturn / Ljulka AL- 41F - turbofan engines are installed and the machine is used again a configuration consisting of canard and tailless delta wing. In the field of avionics, no information is known. Because Mikoyan-Gurevich currently with the Skat- drone collects experiences in the field of stealth technology and the MiG 1:44 in the absence of the selfsame among others failed, it is possible that the MiG- LMFS has at least a small extent stealth characteristics.

Published in early 2011 RAC MiG some concept art of the MiG- LMFS. This case have rather high deviations on early drafts. Instead Canards height and angled tail fins ready to be used again. The air inlets are located at the bow and, as with the American F -35 or the Chinese J -20 as Diverterless Supersonic Inlet ( DSI) designed. The entire design now resembles the F -35 Lightning II, also amount to which the internal weapons bay and the now extensive stealth characteristics. RAC MiG plans to build in the RD -33 MiG- 29 as the Klimov engine.

Depending on the final performance of the machine is to be assumed that RAC MiG tried with the MiG- LMFS to offer a cost effective alternative to heavy and expensive patterns of competitors Sukhoi. Especially in connection with the older type aircraft MiG -21, MiG -23 and MiG- 27, which are still the world in the service and must be replaced in the next few years, the MiG- LMFS could be commercially successful in the world market entirely. However, it is unclear whether the Russian Air Force supports the MiG- LMFS, which would be crucial for the realization of the project, as funding by sales of the MiG -29 and MiG -35 probably would not be possible. In view of rising costs and the technical problems of the Sukhoi T- 50, the MiG- LMFS for the Russian Air Force could soon be important.

Comparable types

An accurate classification performance of the MiG- LMFS is not yet possible. Depending on the final achievable flight performance would be the MiG- LMFS probably compete on the global market with the following patterns:
