Milford, County Donegal

Milford ( Irish: Baile na nGallóglach ) is a town in County Donegal in the north of Ireland.

Milford is a small town near the southern tip of Mulroy Bay on the southwestern edge of the Fanad Peninsula in north County Donegal, about 20 km north of Letterkenny. Their population was determined in Census 2006 829 people. Classroom Milford is one of Donegal North East.

Established was the place in the 18th century by a family Clement. The Irish name Baile na nGallóglach translated means City of Gallowglasses and refers to Scottish mercenaries of that name, who supported the incumbent Irish people in a battle with the English invaders to the top of the hill in the village.

Today ( 2009) the place has three schools, an adult education center, health center and veterinary clinic, a public library with municipal offices, post office and fire station, supermarket, four pubs and a three- star hotel on the outskirts one for Irish towns fairly typical social infrastructure.
