Milicja Obywatelska

The Milicja Obywatelska (MO) ( German citizen militia ) was the official name of the police in Poland from 1944 to 1990. You had already been planned in a decree dated 27 July 1944. Due to concerns by the Soviet occupiers of this, however, did not come into force. This then did a new decree, which was published in the same year on October 7. The militia was under Franciszek Jóźwiak and the newly formed Ministry of Public Security was soon subordinated. From 1955, they then came under the Ministry of Interior. 1956, the internal intelligence of Poland and the Milicja Obywatelska were merged.
