Military patrol at the 1924 Winter Olympics

I. The 1924 Olympic Games in Chamonix the first time, a military patrol race was held. This competition is now regarded by the IOC as a demonstration or Vorführwettbewerb, although at the time of the First Olympic Winter Games, no differentiation was made in demonstration and primary contests. In the statistics of the IOC medal winners from the military patrol from 1924 emerge, however.

The military patrol was added to the program as a demonstration competition at the Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix yet except in 1928, 1936 and 1948, but never managed to be accepted as an official contest it.

Military patrol 30 km

Date: January 29, 1924

After 15 km, three of the four athletes had to shoot at so-called field slices. The athletes were each 18 shots available to meet the 250 m distant slices. For each target hit disc was the team that had to be closed to achieve the goal, extra time of 30 seconds, which was subtracted from the actual runtime.

More Teams

Of the six teams were launched only four finish the competition. Italy and Poland were forced to retire due to the adverse weather conditions.
