Millbourne, Pennsylvania

Delaware County

42-49504

Millbourne [ mɪlbɚn ] is a municipality in Delaware County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is 0.07 square miles ( about 0.18 km ²) in size and with (2000) 943 inhabitants, the smallest in terms of population subdivision of the County.

Millbourne is located about 5.6 miles ( 9 km) west of the center of Philadelphia and directly outside the city limits, which is formed at this point by the small Cobbs Creek. The municipality borders on only two authorities: the north and east side of the creek lies Philadelphia, the border to the second neighboring municipality, Upper Darby, Market Street form the south and the Chatham Road in the west.

In addition to Market Street, on the Pennsylvania State Route 3 runs, the Market - Frankford Line is the second dominant transport infrastructure. The elevated train begins at 69th Street Terminal at Market Street immediately west of the border with Upper Darby, then leads into a bow north around the settlement and swings just before the road bridge over the Cobbs Creek back to Market Street.

The development consists of about a dozen blocks of terraced and detached houses that are wedged between Market Street and the Market - Frankford Line; on Market Street Upper Darby, there is direction towards some commercial buildings. The rest of the municipality forms a broad slope down to Cobbs Creek. Due to the development of unweaned Borough looks rather unimpressive and is often mistakenly associated with Upper Darby.

The Market - Frankford Line operated by the station Millbourne a stopover in the municipality. This Millbourne likely to be one of the smallest communities in the world with its own metro station.
