Miller Fisher

Charles Miller Fisher ( born December 5, 1913 in Waterloo ( Ontario), † April 14, 2012 in Albany (New York)) was a Canadian neurologist.

Scientific performance

Fisher was known among other things for the description of a variant of today as Guillain -Barré syndrome (GBS ) designated acute polyradiculitis. The variant was described in 1956 by Fisher in terms of three cases and was characterized by a syndrome of ophthalmoplegia, ataxia and areflexia. This variant is now commonly referred to as Miller - Fisher syndrome.
