Miller Puckette

Miller Puckette is the developer of the two programs Max and Pure Data.

He developed Max at IRCAM in the early 1980s. Initially it was only intended for editing MIDI data, but it was later expanded the program. David Zicarelli took over from Puckette programming.

Puckette then left the IRCAM and developed from 1996, the open-source equivalent of " Pure Data ".

He is currently the Associate Director for the Department of Music at the Center for Research in Computing and the Arts ( CRCA ), University of California, San Diego.

2008 Puckette was awarded the SEAMUS Lifetime Achievement Award.
